About

I am the Head of Discipline for Continuous Professional Development (CPD). I have the responsibility for overseeing CPD provision (UK and Transnational) within the Institute of Education (IoE) based within the College of Arts Humanities and Education (AHE) alongside contributing to the wider leadership of the College and University to ensure that corporate and strategic aims pertaining to academic partnerships are met.

Research interests

I am a passionate advocate and leader in the field of gender-based violence prevention and survivor empowerment, with a focus on honour-based abuse (HBA) and cultural sensitivity. I have undertaken extensive research exploring (HBA) within minority ethnic communities. Motivated by social justice and human rights, I strive to promote inclusion, diversity, and cultural awareness across educational institutions and communities. I have presented my research findings at numerous conferences on gender studies, equity in education, and safeguarding ethnic minority women and girls. I volunteer my expertise to support organisations serving vulnerable populations, including the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) where I serve as a Trustee. Additionally, I advise the Rochdale HBA Group as Deputy Chair and I sit on their task force developing and delivering culturally competent training for frontline workers across Greater Manchester. I also work closely with Greater Manchester Police as an expert advisor on their HBA policy review.

Through my multifaceted research, advocacy, and community collaboration, I am deeply committed to creating institutional change to better serve minority populations and empower survivors from all backgrounds. My passion and scholarship provide critical insights into HBA and highlight the urgent need for culturally responsive prevention and intervention.
