Blue Box Group, Evening Sports Sessions

Background

The Blue Box Group is a community-led organisation that provides youth activities on the Belper Parks Estate in Amber Valley. The group had been running programmes in their local community for three years before a fire damaged their building. Since then the group had been forced to run their sessions from the back of a minibus.

How did the Community Fund help?

The Community Fund awarded £500 to the Blue Box group to help them continue their Multi Sports Club, which runs on Tuesday and Friday evenings and is attended by around 25-50 young people each week.

Tom Wyke, Chair of the Blue Box Group, said: "Thanks to the Community Fund grant, we will be able to continue providing activities for the young people on the estate throughout the spring, whilst a solution to the building redevelopment project continues to be developed."
