Derby Midshipmen Band, New Uniform

Background

Established in 1935, the Derby Midshipmen Band is one of the oldest marching bands in Derbyshire. The band currently has around 30 performing members of all ages and in 2015 the band celebrated its 80^th birthday.

How did the Community Fund help?

Derby Midshipmen Band applied to the University of Derby Community Fund for support to create new uniforms to help make ‘banding’ modern and appealing to younger members. The Community Fund provided £1,000 towards the band’s uniform fund and will provide ongoing support as they launch their new image.
