Rainbows Hospice Christmas concert

Background

Rainbows has been providing specialist care and emotional support for babies, children and young people with serious or terminal conditions and their loved ones for 30 years, our services are growing, and the demand is becoming greater. We support every child to fulfil their potential and help families make the most of every precious moment while capturing memories and keepsakes to treasure.

Our mission is to:

Our Children's Hospice is the only one in the East Midlands, compared to the 14 Adult Hospices in our region. As a charity, Rainbows is almost entirely dependent on the generosity of those across the East Midlands to provide the funds that keep our services going.

How did the Community Fund help?

Every year, Rainbows organise a Christmas concert in Derby to raise crucial funds for our Hospice and the families we support. We were made aware of the University of Derby Community Fund very late in the organisation of our event and thought we'd give it a go. To our surprise, Rainbows was awarded £500 sponsorship for our concert, which was a huge help towards our costs and enabled us to raise more money to support our services.

Nicola Richardson, Rainbows Derbyshire Community Fundraiser, said:

"Being awarded the University of Derby Community fund was a fantastic surprise and helped us to raise more monies at our concert to invest more into our services for seriously and terminally ill children and their families across the East Midlands. Rainbows only receives 18% funding from NHS England and the rest is raised through fundraising from the generous and amazing people, organisations and companies from across Derbyshire and the rest of the East Midlands. Thank you so much from Rainbows Hospice for Babies, Children and Young people."
