St Alkmunds Church Youth Group, Team Building Day

Background

St Alkmunds Church run a youth group on Sunday evenings, working with young people from various backgrounds across the Kedleston area. Some of those they work with grew up in difficult circumstances and sometimes find it difficult to stay out of trouble. 

How did the Community Fund help?

The youth leaders aimed to build relationships with the group, so that the young people could receive support and know they have someone to talk to when things get tough. The Community Fund awarded the group £500 to help cover the costs of a team building day with the young people.  

Elaine Jones, Youth Worker at St Alkmunds Church, said: "We took eight young people to Carsington Reservoir where we had a sailing session in the morning and kayaking in the afternoon. The young people had a great time; they learned some new skills and focused on working together in teams.

"Thank you once again, the funding enabled us to do this and we are hoping to do something similar again in the future with the young people. We really believe they are worth investing in!"‌
