My advice to current students is simple yet crucial; study what genuinely ignites your passion. Pursue subjects you enjoy, that resonate with your interests and fuel your desire to learn. Embrace the non-linear nature of your journey as unexpected turns can lead to the most rewarding destinations.

University achievements

Whilst at studying, Elle accomplished two notable achievements. Firstly, she participated in a working week at the United Nations in Geneva. Attending workshops and talks by the Human Rights Council and the International Committee of the Red Cross, deeply influenced her trajectory into shaping policy and her work in Parliament.

Elle also completed an independent project on the perception of high and low culture through Bob Dylan's dual career as a fine artist and musician. This process developed her research and writing skills as she conducted original studies and interviews with academics and collectors. This project became a pivotal stepping stone, shaping her path into further academic work and journalism.

"My diverse career journey highlights the importance of adaptability, creativity, and critical thinking in personal growth. Coming from a humanities background and earning recognition in technology and AI has been both humbling and validating. It’s a reminder that the arts remain vital. The arts form the foundation of our society, shaping the present and paving the way for future generations."

Post graduation achievements

Since graduating, Elle has achieved diverse and continued success. She was awarded the WeAreTech 100 Women Award and the 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics Award. Furthermore she had the opportunity to lead a Stanford reading group, contributing to its Technology, Ethics, and Policy programme, hosting discussions with members from four continents.

Critical moments in Elle's career include shaping AI Policy for the European Commission and the UK National Strategy and preparing training documents for Members of Parliament and the House of Lords. As an ambassador at G7's Y7, Elle represented younger people’s voice at the summit and engaged across Europe and Africa through Chatham House's Common Futures Conversations programme.
