Course description

This Senior Leader Apprenticeship programme has been co-designed with public sector organisations from across the Derbyshire region including Councils, the National Health Service and other emergency services and organisations within Education.

This programme aims to respond to the current challenges and complexity with UK public services linked to macro forces such as the aging population, service integration, finance and funding.

In all of the challenges ahead for the public sector, senior leaders of organisations will be critical in setting the strategic direction and communicating this effectively to a range of stakeholders. They are responsible for providing clear, inclusive leadership, building sustainable ethical organisational cultures, and delivering evidence-based results.

The Public Sector leadership programme seeks to deliver the Senior Leader apprenticeship programme but focuses on the unique challenges that the public sector faces. It equips leaders with the skills to meet current and future challenges, deliver effective services, and create value for the communities they serve.

Employment requirements

You must currently be in paid employment of at least 30 hours per week and your employer must cover the costs of the apprenticeship.

Academic requirements

Employers usually set their own selection criteria and entry requirements and we can work with them on this. However, typically an applicant for Senior Leader might be expected to have a recognised bachelors-level degree - such as a BA, BSc or BEng - or the equivalent, plus management experience.

Fees and funding

The cost will be paid for by the employer. The cost of the apprenticeship will normally be in line with the Levy Band of £14,000, but individual agreements will be considered depending on student numbers and the involvement of employers.
