THANK YOU, '22 - A Creative Entrepreneur's Reflection on 2022 | Spoken Word Poem video transcript

[Upbeat music with soft undertones playing]

Thank you for coming on this journey with me. It's been a whirlwind of a year, wouldn't you agree? I started off in Jan, already shifting gears. This time last
year the Mental Roots animation had just been released after me sowing passion
and even tears. How would the world respond to this film that reveals my roots and some of my fears? Well, Jan kicked off with my interview on Radio Derby, Mainframe Awards, SAS conference. The love for our film touched me. Simultaneously new fears have gripped me, like the protagonist in our Flagship
film I've been battling insecurities. Like, can I make something like this again? Not much time for new poetry so am I losing my touch with the pen? I've been swarmed by emails, big decisions, rejected applications, changing situations, unfulfilled ideas- I allowed to cause me frustration. Having these Awards but almost feeling like of fraud... making noise about two animations we made last
year but made no time this year to make more. I put the podcast on pause for a bit. Are my followers now bored? Next year will people even care anymore? Competing with other creatives and brands for applause... is this really what I'm doing this for?
Huh, well, I've learned that's just my fear talking. I'm still keeping on my feet but
it doesn't mean I should chase instead of steadily walking. I'm learning to embrace my own pace, enjoy my own race. I thank God for the grace to even be on this journey in the first place! I'm pitching the brand to these professionals and they actually love the vision! That's one of the few things that give me hope at this time, helping me overcome my own superstition. This is bigger than me, let me remember the mission; to help heal the marginalized through this content for their hearts and minds, telling relatable stories of navigating identity, the
trauma that taints our sobriety, the lens through which we see reality in the way
that shaped by our society. That is my priority. So, in 2023 I hope to connect with you more and collab with organisations and charities, learning more about the gaps in cultural representation and how that challenges community-centred organisations. That is my why. It's the reason I started this and it's the reason why in 23 I'll still try. So thank you listener, supporter, recent follower, whoever you are, I'm glad you're joining me on this wholesome journey. Well done for making it through 22. Now, let's walk together into 23.

[Music slowly fades out]
