High Peak Skills for Business

The High Peak Skills Programme has been developed by the University of Derby and Buxton and Leek College in partnership with High Peak Borough Council and funded by the UK Government.

The programme has been developed to support businesses within the High Peak are to develop digital, green, and employability skills.

The programme will cater to a wide cohort of businesses with differing needs and backgrounds. Designed for individuals who are self-employed those looking to return-to-work or interested in a change in career direction, including Post-16 students. 

The programme delivery is designed to be flexible and enhance learning opportunities for the High Peak economy. Each session will be delivered face-to-face with an online option available to provide a hybrid teaching style.

Upcoming sessions

Each 4 hour session will comprise of.

  • Pre-work/preparation (online)
  • Face-to-face delivery (this could be a combination of in-person and online delivery
  • Assessment exercise and follow up (online)

The session will provide an introduction to digital marketing. We will cover a number of topics that are essential for understanding how digital marketing can be used to enhance the performance of your business.

This session will develop your knowledge of data management and security, providing insights into how to use digital tools and data analytics to significantly boost organisational performance and how to manage data in a safe way. This will help to add value to operations, benefit customers, and enrich your organisation’s portfolio in a rapidly changing world.

This session will focus on introducing and exploring carbon footprinting and what this means for your business.  We will provide guidance on calculating your emissions and explain why it is important for carbon footprinting to be an integral part of your business. We will look at sustainable business practices, including committing to action and helping you to reduce your carbon footprint. We will look at both quick wins but also the long-term benefits of this, helping you to lead a more sustainable business.
