Derby Business School has become the latest business school to be awarded the Small Business Charter. This national accolade awarded by the Chartered Association of Business Schools is in recognition of the business school’s high standard of support for small businesses and the local economy, as well as the work it does in developing entrepreneurial skills in students.

Derby Business School is also a full member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) - a network of business schools and corporations dedicated to enhance excellence in management education and development globally.

Business Management programmes

Our undergraduate Business and Management degrees are dual accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) - the only chartered professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence. It is the only organisation awarding Chartered Manager status, the hallmark of any professional manager, and encompasses a membership community more than 120,000 strong.

This means you will automatically receive a second professional qualification upon successful completion of your programme. By adding this CMI qualification to your University qualification, you’re really on the road to success.

Our MBA Global is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). On successfully completing your programme, you will achieve the CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership alongside your MBA. It means you can apply to become a Chartered Manager, the highest status in the management profession.

Marketing programmes

Our undergraduate marketing degrees are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the leading professional body for marketers worldwide. This means that CIM has independently assessed our marketing degrees and are happy that it reflects their priorities and high standards. CIM accreditation is a quality mark that employers look for.

Economics and Finance programmes

Our BSc (Hons) Economics and Finance degree is accredited by the Chartered Institution for Securities and Investment. Our BA (Hons) Economics degree is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. CIMA accreditation means the course gives you additional awards and/or exemptions towards professional body memberships.

International Business programmes

Our BSc (Hons) International Business Management degree is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). These are important quality marks, demonstrating that the degree has been independently assessed and judged to be high quality and relevant to a specific industry. CIMA accreditation means you will gain exemptions towards CIMA's professional qualifications. Similarly, the CMI accreditation means you could be eligible for another professional qualification.

Event, Hospitality and Tourism programmes

The Centre for Contemporary Hospitality and Tourism has been awarded accreditation as an International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education. The accreditation is for teaching, curriculum and student experience, so you can be assured that what you are learning is of the highest standard and centred around the skills employers are looking for.

Accounting programmes

We’ve designed the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance course to ensure that, if you select the relevant module pathway, you’ll be eligible to apply for the maximum exemptions offered by ACCA and for a range of exemptions offered by CIMA, ICAEW and AIA. This means you can achieve membership of your professional body more quickly and accelerate your career progression. This course is also accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). On the BA (Hons) Business Accounting and Finance course, you’ll be eligible to apply for all 11 of the maximum exemptions offered by the CIMA.
