Dracula Returns to Derby survey

Have you been to one of our events? Do you want to become a Dracbassador? After you've read the study information below, take the survey.

This project is about the connection between Dracula and Derby. It is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and led by the University of Derby (UoD). It marks the world premiere of Hamilton Deane’s adaptation of Dracula, which happened in Derby in 1924.

We are trying to understand what people know about the connection between Dracula and Derby. We are also trying to understand what people think about our events and workshops. We are also trying to understand what sort of people are engaging with the project. Finally, if you decide to sign up to be a Dracbassador, we are trying to understand a bit more about who you are.

Dracbassadors is our name for the people who participate or assist the project. By becoming a Dracbassador you can also attend one of our creative workshops. Dracbassdors can bid for money from the Dracula Fund, £5,000 available to anyone wanting to promote the link between Dracula and Derby.

Yes. You can attend one of our events or workshops. You can fill out the following survey without becoming a Dracbassador.

Because your answers are anonymous, you can withdraw from the study up to the point of submitting them. If you decide to be a Dracbassador you can withdraw from the study at any point up to the end of the project (31 May 2025) without having to give a reason. You can ask the project team to delete your information or you can let them keep your information for the study. If you want the project team to delete your information, you must give this request by the project’s end, which is 31 May 2025.

Yes. Your responses are anonymous unless you give express permission for your name to be quoted. Only the project team will have access to the anonymous data.

Your information will be securely kept up until 31 May 2027, at which point it will be deleted. This will give the project team enough time to publish their outputs.

Your responses will contribute to four things. Firstly, they may be discussed in presentations, secondly, your responses may be discussed in a book and/or journal articles, thirdly your responses may appear in a community publication and fourthly, they will help the project team understand how to establish an annual Derby-based celebration commemorating the first Dracula adaptation.
