Accessibility guidance

Our responsibility

Accessibility is about inclusivity. It’s about allowing everyone to access and benefit from something - for instance, the information on our website. And dismantling the barriers that prevent this.

The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 gives us clear guidelines on what we need to do to be accessible. The regulations are based on the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 standard AA. Otherwise known as W3C WCAG 2.1 AA.

The regulations came into effect on 23 September 2020 [though, under the Equality Act 2010, we should already be providing accessible content].

To help you produce accessible pages, we have provided some easy-to-digest accessibility guidance.
