Derby on Demand. The best of Derby on demand.

Lecturer Adam Hill works at an audio mixing desk in a venue.

Adam: I started working as an audio engineer when I was 18 years old. I had to learn quickly.

Adam shows students how to use the mixing desk. Students attach equipment to a lowered lighting and sound gantry.

Adam: Looking back, I know so much more now thanks studying the subject.

Adam puts a microphone on a stand on a stage in the centre of the venue.

Adam: As an educator, I mix research-informed teaching with real-world learning. I put ideas to work, teaching you to think on your feet until everything clicks into place.

The completed stage has lights and speakers in place on the now-raised gantry. A performer with a guitar plays and sings on stage.

Adam: I teach academic skills that can be directly applied in industry and, when I see my students succeed, nothing makes me prouder.

Adam and his students sit at the mixing desk, smiling listening to the performance.
