Creating an Anchor Link

An anchor link is a clickable link that takes users to a specific section of a webpage. It's useful for improving navigation, especially on long pages, by allowing users to jump directly to relevant content.

How to create an anchor link in T4

  1. Open T4 and go to the page where you want to add an anchor link.
  2. Find or create the content section where the anchor link will go.
  3. In the text field, click the link icon (two paper clips) and select ‘Insert Anchor’.
  4. Enter an anchor ID – this will appear at the end of your URL. Choose a clear and appropriate ID.
  5. Save your changes.
  6. Approve the content (and page if needed) or email digitalsupport@derby.ac.uk to publish it.
  7. Once live, access the anchor link by adding /#[your-anchor-ID] to the URL.

For example, if the anchor ID is example on this page, the link would be:
https://www.derby.ac.uk/digital-guidelines/anchor-links/#example
