Promo

A promo is one of the key components that will make up landing pages. They can be used to link to any content, but must include an image.

The promos feature a lot of design variables so that pages can be created with their own identity. When creating landing pages, the page should be considered as a whole, and work best when the pattern and colour palette is restricted to one or two across a page.

For example, if you have used a yellow cross hatch hero, it will probably work well to keep this theme running across the page, and set the promo components on that page to use all yellow with a variant of pattern.

The design of landing pages includes alternating left and right patterns, which can be used to create an engaging flow across a page. Where possible, promos should be stacked alternately, so that the user can engage left to right.

Key features

NB

If you are linking to content within T4 the follow can be pulled through from the Section config content type: title, abstract (as teaser text), thumbnail image, pattern and pattern colour. However if you set this on your promo block this will override what's being pulled through.

No follow

There is a checkbox on the promo called No Follow. This is only to be used if you do not want search engines to follow the link used in your promo. Eg if you're linking to a page that is behind a login. If you're unsure please email digitalsupport@derby.ac.uk.
