Dr Ahmad Timsal - Course Leader

Ahmad is a Lecturer of Business & Management, within the Derby Business School, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a certified Chartered Manager from CMI. who completed a PhD. in Leadership & Management from Lancaster University. At the University of Derby, Ahmad leads on modules associated with the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA) programme.

Unit 1 Innovation, Digital Technology and Disruption 

  • Define the terms ‘disruptive technology’ and ‘innovation’
  • Identify current and emerging digital trends that are considered disruptive 
  • Identify the areas of greatest potential in your organisation that could benefit from the use of disruptive technologies such as AI and data analytics

Unit 2 Exploring the AI Ecosystem 

  • Discuss the concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and explore its historical development as a transformative discipline
  • Explore the impact of AI on society and organisations, within the digital ecosystem
  • Discuss recent cases and real-life scenarios about the use of AI in organisations

Unit 3 Big Data Informatics  

  • Define and analyse the term big data
  • Analyse some of the issues surrounding the collection and analysis of big data
  • Evaluate the potential of large-scale data collection and analysis and its implications for organisations

Unit 4 Strategy and Digital Transformation roadmaps  

  • Evaluate effective digital adoption models for successful implementation of disruptive technology

Unit 5 Ethical, legal, and social framework for AI  

  • Explore the ethical, legal (regulatory) and social considerations around the use of AI
  • Evaluate the requirement to act professionally, in the public interest, and with social responsibility whilst making use of AI and data analytics
  • Develop an ethical framework for your organisation around the use of AI

Unit 6 Driving AI in your Business 

  • Identify the potential business opportunities that AI offers for your organisation
  • Develop a business case for the use of AI in your organisation
