An Introduction to Applying Behaviour Change Theory to Practice

This face-to-face interactive workshop is ideal for doctoral and stage 2 students, and those new to practice or implementing behaviour change. This workshop will introduce you to evidence-based approaches to changing behaviour: Key messages on why it’s important, why drives behaviour and how to change behaviour.

Dr Jenny Lunt is a senior lecturer in Health Psychology at the University of Derby. She holds a Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology and is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. Dr. Lunt is also a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Before joining the University of Derby, she worked as an independent practitioner running her own business and as a Principal Psychologist within the Health and Safety Executive where led the development of behaviour change and wellbeing at work capability.  Her research interests include the application of behaviour change to health and safety, occupational health recovery, and the management of chronic health conditions in the workplace and applying systems thinking to sustainability. She has undertaken research, training and consultancy in a variety of industry sectors.

Dr Caroline Jordan is an applied psychologist with significant experience researching and applying behaviour change techniques in practice.

An Introduction to Working as a Practitioner Psychologist

This face-to-face interactive workshop is ideal for doctoral and stage 2 students, and those new to practice across psychology, psychotherapy and other talking therapy approaches. This workshop will introduce you to key skills needed to work as a practitioner psychologist working privately or in academic settings.

Please note: this training is designed to support practitioners in understanding the skills required, and the process of working as a practitioner with clients in non-clinical settings. This training will not deliver intervention training. 

Dr Philip Clarke is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). Dr Clarke has contributed extensively to the field of sport psychology and applied practice over the last 10 years. Dr Clarke is also a British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) registered supervisor for trainee sports psychologists.  
 
Dr Clarke engages with the broader community through public speaking and workshops, sharing his insights on how to build resilience and perform under pressure. His work has had a positive impact on many athletes, students, and professionals seeking to improve their mental game.
