Celebrating Black History Month’s 2024 theme of Reclaiming Narratives, we are proud to host an “In conversation with….” Nicolle Ndiweni-Roberts, Derbyshire’s first black Police and Crime Commissioner for the region.

As a Former District Councillor and former Cabinet Member for Safer & Stronger Communities along with many other previous roles such as Inward Investment & Business Expansion Specialist and Women's East Midlands Regional Board Member, Nicolle brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to her Police and Crime Commissioner role.

You will hear about Nicolle’s story of inspiration and overcoming challenges as well as learning about her political journey and vision for our community.

The evening will be led by Catherine John-Baptiste, Senior Lecturer and Chair of the Race Equality Network at the University of Derby.

Nicolle Ndewni-Roberts - Police and Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire

Nicolle became Police and Crime Commissioner in May 2024 and is passionate about ensuring that individuals are protected from harm and have the necessary support when they need it.

As a daughter of hardworking parents who sacrificed to provide opportunities, Nicolle understands the value of community and the importance of safety and security. With a degree in Criminology and International Relations, experience in both the public and private sector, and as a former District Councillor and Cabinet Member for Safer and Stronger Communities, Nicolle hopes to bring a unique perspective to the role of Police Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire
