This role will be based on site, primarily in the named location with the opportunity to work remotely available in line with our Adaptive Working Framework.

The school of Nursing and Midwifery provides a wide range of programmes from undergraduate nursing and nursing associate courses to post graduate programmes that support the delivery of care within healthcare practice. We are delighted to advertise this role of Associate Lecturer in Midwifery to support the Midwifery pathway of our FdSc Assistant Practitioner programme. The successful applicant will be a qualified midwife with outstanding knowledge and skills in the field of Midwifery. The successful candidate will be delivering the content of midwifery modules to student Assistant Practitioners. The successful applicant will be required to use the VLE to deliver content to students synchronously through live online sessions and asynchronously through student discussion areas. They will also be required to mark student work within the required timeframes.  

We are seeking an NMC registered midwife to join our team . We would welcome applications from candidates with experience of online module development, and experience of relevant transferable skills in these areas from beyond higher education. You should be passionate about supporting the development and growth of future practitioners in the field. Excellence in communication, team and collaborative working are essential.

  1. Duties may include any of the following:
  2. Formal scheduled delivery of Teaching, Lectures or Workshops
  3. Preparation of teaching materials required in the delivery of the above
  4. Preparation of Reading Lists
  5. Responsibility for keeping of University records, reports or returns as appropriate including marks and notes are submitted to the module leader for assessment boards.
  6. Contribution to assessment design as appropriate
  7. Marking, moderation and electronic submission of marks as required
  8. Supervision of Doctoral Research
  9. Responsibility for tutorials
  10. Student Support
  11. Independent Studies supervision
  12. Attendance at the following Boards/Meetings, where it is appropriate and where they can be arranged to fit in with other commitments: development / training meetings and events, probation and Development Review, programme committees and subject/team meetings, any relevant meetings associated with internal and/or external periodic scrutiny such as QAA, College Research Committee, College Research Ethics Committee, Assessment Boards;
  13. To comply with the requirements of Health & Safety, other relevant legislation and University documentation

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

  • A first degree in a discipline appropriate to the discipline being taught or equivalent professional experience
  • Registered as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council

Experience

  • Experience of working in an industry related to the discipline being taught

  • Ability to teach at the appropriate level
  • Ability to relate theory to practice
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability to develop online modules
