New teacher resource launched to help digital career literacy

Teachers and career practitioners across the country can benefit from a new resource to support the development of digital career literacy, which has been launched by the University of Derby.

The International Centre for Guidance Studies (iCeGS) at the University has launched a new resource for teachers and career development practitioners, which will help them enhance learners’ digital career literacy skills.

The resource titled ‘Digitise My Career’ includes lesson plans, worksheets and presentation slides based around the seven competencies (changing, communicating, connecting, creating, curating, collecting and critiquing) of digital career literacy developed by Professor Tristram Hooley, Head of iCeGS. Together these resources form a comprehensive programme for KS3, 4 and 5 students.

A launch event for the resource will take place on June 23, 2016 and will include a training session and presentations by Professor Hooley and David Andrews, University of Derby Visiting Professor.

Professor Hooley said: “This is a great opportunity to be the first to receive these innovative interactive resources. Young people today really need these skills to help them manage their careers in a digital world. These resources will help teachers and career development practitioners create interesting lessons and activities to help with this.”

All attendees will receive a copy of the pack and access to the online, interactive activities. The cost of the training and resources will be £175 and this includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
