Devonshire Spa shortlisted for two World Luxury Spa Awards

Buxton’s Devonshire Spa at the University of Derby Buxton Campus has been shortlisted in two categories at the prestigious World Luxury Spa Awards 2017.

The spa, based in the historic Devonshire Dome, is run commercially lines to give students, aiming to make a career in spa management, the best training for the real world. It has been shortlisted in the Day Spa and Upcoming Spa categorises.

The World Luxury Spa Awards are the pinnacle of achievement for luxury spas worldwide. Award winners set the benchmark for luxury spas on the global front in achieving recognition for exceptional service.

Isobel Stockdale, Head of Spa and Tourism at the University, said: “We are really proud to be shortlisted, especially when the awards are around setting benchmarks in quality, innovation and exceptional service, as it is a testament to what we do, providing the industry with work-ready graduates.

“Accolades like this set our graduates apart, they do not just obtain a degree that is relevant to the spa industry but have also been able to apply theoretical knowledge and principles into practice.

“More importantly, this demonstrates to potential students that here, at the University of Derby, we offer an experience which is considered first class in the real world.”

The Devonshire Spa includes facilities such as a Hydrotherapy Pool, Monsoon Shower and Reflexology Foot Baths.

The Devonshire Spa was awarded Professional Beauty’s Day Spa of the Year in 2016.
