University of Derby halls of residence rated in top 50 in UK

17 December 2019

The University of Derby’s Nunnery Court and St Christopher’s Court halls of residence have been ranked in the top 50 of the best student accommodation in the UK.

StudentCrowd gathered reviews from 23,340 students, judging accommodation on their value for money, location, management, cleaning, social spaces, social experience and WiFi quality.

Nunnery Court was ranked 27th place in the Best Student Accommodation Awards 2019, with St Christopher's Court in 50th place.

Both halls of residence have recently undergone £3m worth of refurbishment works, offering students bright, fresh and modern accommodation.

Earlier this year the University of Derby scooped accolades for Best Student Wellbeing, Best Environmental Management and Best Customer Service in the 2019 National Student Housing Survey.

Guy Gibson, Deputy Director of Student Living at the University of Derby, said: “We’re delighted to have received two StudentCrowd Awards, which come in the wake of our three headline awards from the National Student Housing Survey.

“Awards like these are invaluable as they are based on real student feedback and therefore demonstrate the importance we place on the quality of our student accommodation at the University.

“Every member of staff, from cleaners and caretakers to hall managers, works hard to foster a sense of community and to create a home-from-home environment for our students, and it is fantastic for this to be recognised.”

Paul Humphreys, Founder and CEO of StudentCrowd, said: “Congratulations to the University of Derby – two properties are featured in the 2019 awards. When students have such a positive accommodation experience, we believe they have a platform to thrive on their course and social life.”
