Bumper Open Day bookings show Derby's a winning city for prospective university students

20 June 2024

Derby is a destination of choice for students who are set to attend the University of Derby's Open Day this Saturday (22 June) in their droves.

Around 3,000 students and their families are expected to turn up to the last Open Day of the academic year - traditionally the largest - eager to find out more about the range of courses, TEF gold-standard teaching, and world-leading research on offer.

As part of their visit, they'll also embark on a city tour, giving them the chance to see for themselves the wide range of cultural and leisure attractions available to enjoy.

Hannah Wright, Associate Director - Student Recruitment, at the University of Derby:

"Our staff and students are some of the city and country's greatest advocates, so we're delighted that thousands of prospective students are set to visit Derby this Saturday where they can discover for themselves what makes the University and city so special.

"We have a fantastic day in store for our guests and are planning on giving them the VIP experience, so they have the best possible day and leave here well informed and excited about going to university. We can't wait to show them what's in store at the University of Derby, and for them to experience what our vibrant city has to offer".

The University's Open Day provides an opportunity for prospective students keen to progress into higher education to find out more about traditional undergraduate degrees, as well as Degree Apprenticeships which the University of Derby offers in partnerships with industry including Rolls-Royce and the NHS.

They can also speak to experts about the Admissions process, funding, and support, as well as meet lecturers, researchers, and current students. In addition, students looking for a university place starting this September could be made a provisional offer on the spot if they're eligible.
