This course was both interesting and very informative. Prior to starting I had my own views, opinions and beliefs which developed throughout the course and has made me look at the world in a completely different way.

The therapeutic kitchen

The therapeutic kitchen allows for students of Occupational Therapy to experience valuable simulated teaching, intervention and assessments tasks. The clinical area helps students consider case studies and problem solve through real life simulation.

Within the kitchen environment there is range of adaptive equipment, such as a height adjustable sink and low level appliances to accommodate a range of disabilities. The small adaptive equipment gives students the opportunity for hands on experience using equipment common to the profession.

Students also use the therapeutic kitchen for facilitating therapy and social groups with their peers, helping understand the challenges of delivering to such groups within the community.
