PGCE Post-14 (Education and Training) Interview Information
The interview process will last approximately 2 hours, but you will be required to submit a recorded presentation in advance. Your interview experience is an exciting opportunity for you to demonstrate your passion for teaching your subject specialism to post-14 leaners.
PGCE Post-14 FES Interview Presentation 25-26
Before the interview
You need to prepare, present and record a 2-3 minute presentation on 'Teaching your subject in the Post-14 further Education and Training Sector', then share the presentation with us using YouTube, OneDrive, or another method you know of, and email the link to k.haselgrove@derby.ac.uk two working days before the interview.
The presentation brief is deliberately broad but if you would like more guidance, consider aspects such as: how you would teach your subject to best engage your leaners; the importance of your subject on the curriculum or why it appeals to you so much as a subject. We would like you to use a PowerPoint as part of the presentation. The activity is timed, so please do keep it within 3 minutes.
You will be assessed on
- Presentation skills
- Digital skills
- The ability to communicate clearly
- Confidence, enthusiasm and passion for your subject
- The ability to engage an audience
- The ability to structure a topic and deliver in an understandable manner in the time allocated
As above, you should confirm your attendance by emailing k.haselgrove@derby.ac.uk with a link to your short presentation. (You may choose where to upload this, but we suggest YouTube or OneDrive).
Please note: The email to k.haselgrove@derby.ac.uk,which contains the link to your presentation, will be your formal acceptance of your interview and if we do not receive a presentation link from you, we will assume that you no longer wish to proceed with the interview. Once we receive your link, we will email you back to formally invite you to interview.
