About the event

Dr Miika Kekki, who completed his PhD in Social Policy at the University of Eastern Finland in 2024, will share insights from his research, Career Counsellors as Street-Level Integrators. His work examines career guidance for adult migrants in Finland, uncovering its practitioner-centred nature and the challenges it poses for both migrants and practitioners.

Join us to explore this call for a more socially just and holistic integration policy and its implications for career guidance practices.

About the presenter

Miika joined the University of Derby as an Early Career Academic in October. He completed his PhD in Social Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland earlier last year. His thesis focused on the career guidance of adult migrants in Finland, with a particular emphasis on the role of career practitioners working with this client group.

Before his appointment at Derby, Miika worked as a project researcher at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. Earlier in his career, he spent several years as a career practitioner and teacher in both Finland and abroad.
