Innovation and Research at Derby video transcript

Uplifting music plays throughout this 30 second, fast-paced ad.

We start with an aerial angle on two researchers walking in a grassy field.

We see them gathering a sample from the field.

Back at the University of Derby in a lab, the sample is studied, and put into a machine.

The results are viewed as charts on a computer, and discussed by the researchers.

In the next scene, one researcher stands with a handheld device next to another person sat on a sports bench in the Sports Centre.

The scanner revolves around the person's foot.

We see someone using a computer as a 3D model of a foot and shin support part is created.

They load a powder cartridge into a manufacture machine, and wearing breathing protection, carefully dust the 3D printed part.

The person who had their foot scanned handles the completed part and wears it as motion trackers help someone at a computer to analyse their gait.

In the third scene we have a technician in the Institute for Innovation in Sustainable Engineering, working at a large machine that uses a fine spray of coolants liquid onto metal parts.

At a computer, another researcher uses a microscope to view the part in extreme detail for abrasions.

In the final scene, a researcher looks into a water tank in the Aquatic Research Facility. They reach into the tank to remove a coral sample.

They load a slide into a microscope in order to view the cells.

Finally we see another aerial shot, this time of clear blue ocean, as the University of Derby logo and Research website link appear.
