Course description

This half-day CPD course is designed to improve staff wellbeing. It improves mental and physiological health through the introduction of practices which allow improved emotional and behavioural regulation. Team working skills are improved through the exploration of compassionate communication in group settings.

This course draws on key elements from our Compassionate Mind Training for Teachers, Staff and Educators (CMT-TSE) programme and our Compassionate Compassionate Communication - Further and Higher Education (CC-FE/HE) programme, both of which have been shown to impact wellbeing and emotion regulation and improve group work.

Professor Frances Maratos is a chartered psychologist and leading expert in affective science. Her ground-breaking research in the field of Compassion in Education, as well as wellbeing, is world renown. She leads provision of our Compassion CPD’s and curriculums at the UoD, is widely published, has excellent grant capture and is a spokesperson for the Global Compassion Coalition.

Dr Caroline Harvey
Course author

Caroline teaches a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules on our Psychology programmes. She supervises PhD students and is an active researcher. Caroline's research is focused on two broad areas and she leads on research concerning compassion in higher education and also works as part of a team that are interested in the links between nature and wellbeing.
