James delivers innovative teaching to provide a real-world learning experience. The design of his teaching is underpinned by his S&C experience working in industry, and his work with the UK Strength and Conditioning Association. He believes in translating theory to practice in an accessible way to allow students to develop skills to ready them for the workplace.

James is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology and based in the School of Sport and Exercise Science. 

Dr Bird is based within the Health and Social Care Research Centre. His role is focused on helping to develop the College of Health and Social Care's research activity. This includes the development of funding bids, the conducting of research and the dissemination of findings. Dr Bird's research interests include art therapy, migration, domestic abuse, and climate crisis.

Jane Hager is a Senior Lecturer in Pre-Qualification Healthcare and Stage 2 lead for Adult Nursing. Jane is a Registered Nurse and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting) with experience of working in the NHS in several different settings and capacities. 

Jane is Head of Psychology within the School of Human Sciences. Her teaching and research interests are based within critical approaches to social psychology, particularly in relation to gender, identity and the use of qualitative methods. She currently teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervises a number of PhD students.
