Senior Lecturer in Dance

I am part of the dance team working to deliver on the new BA (hons) Dance and Movement for  Wellbeing programme and the MA Dance and Choreography programme. I trained vocationally at Arts Educational School, Trinity Laban and Northern School of Contemporary Dance and have accrued over 35 years experience as a professional dancer, choreographer and dance educator.

Elizabeth is an Associate Professor. She leads the Metabolic Disorders and Cancer Research Centre, teaches across our Undergraduate and Postgraduate Biosciences programmes, and supervises students in their project work. Her research interests are in host-pathogen interactions and immunity, and she leads projects to understand the role of Human Papillomavirus in Head and Neck Cancers.

Dr Holly Elliott is an Economic Geologist at the University of Derby. Recently, she has been involved in research relating to the formation of rare earth element deposits associated with carbonatite magmatic systems.

Emily Dakin has been with the University of Derby since December 2021 as a lecturer on the BA (Hons) Professional Policing degree course. Emily is the module lead for Police Accountability, Decision Making & Discretion and teaches on the PCDA. Her background is in Criminology and Sociology & has worked within policing.

Emily is a postgraduate research student currently exploring the experience of parents when they are delivering behavioural interventions in the home with their child who has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. 

Senior Lecturer

Emma qualified as a Mental Health Nurse in 1995, she has been awarded the following qualifications: RN DipHE (Mental Health); MA (Mental Health Practice); PGCE (Inter Professional Practice Education). Emma has worked at the University of Derby since 2013, initially in the Mental Health Nursing Team and she now teaches on the Health and Social Care BSc.

Postgraduate Research Student

Emma is a postgraduate researcher in Health Psychology at the University of Derby. Her research reflects her passion for working in and improving end-of-life care, focusing on healthcare professionals’ experiences of patient death and subsequent development of death competency.

Lecturer in Forensic Science (CSI)

As a Lecturer of Forensic Science (CSI), Emma Hook teaches across a variety of modules on the Forensic Science programmes. She also supervises undergraduate research projects. Her area of interest is Bloodstain Pattern Analysis and is currently undertaking a PhD in this area.
