About

As Course Director for the School of Built and Natural Environment, I use my varied teaching, consultancy and quality background to work to improve the teaching and learning and curriculum in the School. Alongside my strategic responsibilities, I continue to teach and assess in ecology and environment, both face to face and by distance learning. My training, teaching and consultancy as an ecologist and experience as a business owner inform my role in Derby, understanding application in the real world and what graduates will need to be able to do. Working abroad has been a big part of my life, and I bring that into my teaching to spark big ideas and global aspirations in our students.

My focus is on a high quality and attractive curriculum, ensuring that our teaching is accessible and stimulating. Internationalisation, work placement and employability skills, integrating research in study and student attainment are key priorities.
