About

I am a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Training and Education in the Institute of Education, College of Arts, Humanities and Education.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach across the Primary Initial Teacher Training programmes, leading primary humanities. In addition, I teach on modules including Civic Responsibilities, Sociology of Education and Educational Research.

Professional interests

I am interested in teaching and learning, teacher development and the role of coaching and mentoring to support improvement.

In addition, I have taught in areas with high social deprivation and work with a Research School to plan, deliver and sustain programmes to address key areas of need, supporting schools across the Midlands to embed evidence-informed practice into their settings.

I have been a facilitator and assessor for NPQ programmes.

Research interests

I am interested in areas of social justice and inclusive practices, with a particular focus on the role of the wider curriculum design for addressing disadvantage.

Coaching and mentoring for curriculum leadership.

Gender, masculinity and boys' achievement in education.

Qualifications

Experience in industry

I am an experienced primary teacher with extensive experience of working with Teachers, Subject Leaders and Schools to bring about curriculum improvement through mentoring, coaching, training and networking opportunities.

In addition, I have been an NPQLT Facilitator, NPQ Assessor, and an Evidence Lead with a Research School.

I am a member of the Historical Association's Primary Committee, Midlands History Forum Committee and Humanities 2020 steering group.

As a Governor at a local nursery school, I am part of the Curriculum Committee.
