About

I am a Senior Lecturer of Education in the Institute of Education, part of the College of Arts, Humanities and Education. I am also the Programme Leader of the Education with Qualified Teacher Status Integrated Masters Degree (MEdu), an innovative new teaching course that offers the opportunity for students to undertake varied school placements to develop their professional skills and apply the theory learned at university into practice in placement. The MEdu prepares students for future leadership roles and allows them to choose from a range of curriculum enhancement options to tailor the course to their interests and career ambitions.

I am passionate about education and am a lifelong learner. It is my goal to assist in ensuring that outstanding teaching, learning and assessment experiences are available and accessible to all.

Teaching responsibilities

I plan, deliver and assess Initial Teacher Training and Initial Teacher Education to trainee teachers, both undergraduate and postgraduate, to full-time on-campus Beginning Teachers, completing the Primary Education with QTS BEd (Hons) and the Education with QTS Integrated Masters (MEdu), as well as remotely to part-time students nationally on the Secondary (Provider-led, School-based) with QTS PGCE and internationally on the International Postgraduate Certificate in Education (iPGCE) and the International Qualified Teacher Status (IQTS) Programmes.

I teach modules covering theories of learning, the global teacher, research perspectives, international inclusive practice, contemporary pedagogies and professional identity. These modules and their content are aimed at ensuring that teachers of tomorrow are reflective practitioners who are best prepared to be outstanding in education.

Research interests

I am interested in all aspects of education, especially in the areas of curriculum and pedagogy, as well as innovative and creative learning, teaching and assessment.

The advent and impact of Artificial Intelligence, especially generative artificial intelligence, on education is of special interest to me and the need to modify the way that teaching is delivered and the ways that learning is assessed as a consequence.
