About

I am currently teaching GCSE English at Nottingham College, having previously taught both GCSE and Functional Skills English at two other further education institutions. My experience in the post-sixteen sector, coupled with my master's studies, has fueled my desire to delve deeper into this area. In addition to teaching, I am a published author, writing across various genres, including LGBTQ fiction. My proposed PhD research seeks to merge my passions for writing and education by exploring the representation of LGBTQ voices within the post-sixteen GCSE English curriculum. Through my thesis, I aim to identify and advocate for methods that enhance the visibility and inclusion of LGBTQ narratives, ensuring that diverse perspectives are integrated into the literature studied in GCSE English. This research aspires to contribute to more inclusive educational practices, fostering a curriculum that reflects the rich variety of human experiences and identities.

Thesis title
