I have been a Lecturer at the University of Derby since June 2021. I am based at the Kedleston Road campus in Derby.

Teaching responsibilities

I act as a Personal Academic Tutor across all stages and primarily teach on Stage 3 of the programme. I teach and lead on the Practice Assessment Part 3 module which is an important module to ensure our students meet the practice hours and requirements to enable them to not only complete the programme but meet the NMC requirements for practice hours and proficiencies as a Registered Nurse in Mental Health.

• Diploma in Nursing (Mental Health) - University of Nottingham
• Registered Nurse in Mental Health Nursing - Nursing and Midwifery Council
• Post Graduate Certificate in Interprofessional Practice Education - University of Derby

Experience in industry

I qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in July 2004. I have had an extensive career mainly within acute inpatient services progressing to Clinical Lead on the adult acute mental health wards. I have also been Preceptorship Lead supporting those newly qualified in their transition phase post qualifying as Registered professionals.
