Early Career Academic - Public Services

About

I have completed my PhD in social policy at the University of Eastern Finland. Before returning to the Academia, I worked as a career practitioner for several years in Finland. I have also taught career practitioners both in Finland and abroad, and worked as a teacher in the career counsellor programme of the University of Eastern Finland. I joined the International Centre for Guidance Studies at the University of Derby in October 2024.

Teaching responsibilities

For the academic year 2024-25 I am the module leader for The Career Guidance Professional module within MA in Career Guidance and Development. I am also teaching in the same module.

Research interests

My research interests include career guidance of migrants, integration, street-level bureaucracy, and career guidance policies.

Qualifications

Experience in industry

I have work experience in higher education institutions, and various governmental bodies in Finland. I have also worked as a self-employed supervisor, career practitioner and trainer for several years. 

International experience

I have worked as a post-doc researcher at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, as a trainer for career practitioners in various countries, and as an administrative officer for the Erasmus programme in Brussels, Belgium. In addition, I have been a psycho-social support delegate for the International Red Cross.
