About

Following an early career in Retail Banking culminating in a branch management role, I moved to the Public Sector working for Shropshire Council Economic Development Department.

Working as a Business Adviser I subsequently worked for Business Link, Herefordshire Council and Wolverhampton City Council as well as having a 5-year period of self-employment.  During this time I managed a number of European funded business support projects.

Latterly I worked for Wolverhampton University as Project Manager for an ERDF project supporting innovation before joining Derby Business School in 2020.

At Derby, I initially managed the Small Business Leadership Programme before moving across to the Help to Grow: Management Programme.

Qualifications

• Associate of the Institute of Bankers
• RICS Diploma in Project Management

Additional interests and activities

I enjoy driving and hill walking. As a previous member of MENSA, I enjoy puzzles of all kinds.  I particularly enjoy crosswords and Scrabble.

I have competed at Scrabble at a regional competition level as well being a member of a local Scrabble club. I am an avid reader, particularly Science Fiction and Fantasy Before Covid, I was a regular cinema and theatre goer, and I am slowly returning to this.
