About

I am a Senior Lecturer in International Law at the University of Derby. Before joining the University of Derby in 2020, I taught numerous courses in public international law at SOAS, University of London. I previously worked as a Research Assistant at 20 Essex Street in arbitration and on public international law cases before domestic and international courts and tribunals.

I am a general public international lawyer with expertise in the law of treaties, the law of immunities, the law of international organisations, human rights law and investment arbitration. I have done advisory work for both state and non-state actors at an international level.

My most recent research looks at the intersection between investment arbitration and human rights. Recent articles have examined investor obligations and indigenous groups acting as non-disputing parties in investor-state arbitration. My forthcoming book looks at the history of the creation of international investment law. I regularly contribute case reports to the International Law Reports.

I have delivered papers at Harvard University, the American University of Cairo, the University of Warwick and at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law at the University of Cambridge.

I direct the Human Rights Clinic at the University of Derby, which provides research briefs to practitioners and states.

I am happy to supervise PhD students in all areas of public international law.
