About

I am the Head of Discipline - Built Environment  within the College of Science and Engineering. I am responsible for the overall development and management of the Discipline, covering the subject areas of Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction, Architectural Technology and Interior Architecture. My other role in the University includes ERDF Low Carbon Project Lead. I am the University's lead for the development and delivery of Construction Skills Hub, in partnership with Chesterfield College, Chesterfield Council and Devonshire Property Group Ltd. The total value of the Town Deal is £25.2 million

I actively engage with built environment professional bodies and wider academia, serving as a Chair and member for national committees, External Examiner and External Panel Member for UG and PG courses, External Examiner for PhD, External Assessor for Associate Professor conferment, Editor and Editorial board member for international journals.  I am also an active researcher and publish widely in pedagogy in the built environment, construction project management and property investment. I also have successfully supervised seven PhD, DBA and Professional Doctorate students through to completion in the UK and Australia.

Prior to joining the University, I was the Head of Property and Real Estate in the University of Salford which I led the development of discipline’s course portfolio development. I led the development of the online MSc Real Estate in the Middle East, in conjunction with the Dubai Real Estate Institute. I also held various appointments in UK and overseas higher education institutions.

Experience in industry

Prior to returning to academia, I was a Project Manager in Blue Chips Company and Programme Manager responsible for leading multi-million European Social Funded project.

International experience

I was Acting Discipline Leader for Property and Real Estate and Course Director for PG Property courses in Deakin University, Australia. I was also Visiting Fellow for Deakin University. I was Honorary Lecturer for Laureate, USA, Adjunct Professor in Robert Kennedy College, Switzerland and I worked in Hong Kong and Northern Ireland.
