About

I have worked at the University of Derby in Primary Initial Teacher Training since 2022, after over 30 years teaching and leading primary schools in Staffordshire and Derbyshire. I teach across many of the varied programmes and also work as a lead mentor supporting our students on placement.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach across many varying modules across the Initial Teacher Training programmes covering subjects such as professional practice, safeguarding and curriculum studies. Currently I oversee the primary curriculum areas Design and Technology and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic education).

Professional interests

I am interested in all aspects of primary teaching but especially curriculum development and teacher retention.

Experience in industry

31 years working in Primary education across schools in Staffordshire and Derbyshire.

Additional interests and activities

I enjoy the outdoors and am a keen runner and walker, especially with the family and the dog. I am working on my gardening expertise with varying success. Pilates has helped me to keep the body and mind in place to achieve the above!
