About

I am a Lecturer within the adult nursing programme based at Chesterfield St Helena site. My main responsibilities are as the module leader for the Practice Assessment Module within stage 2 of the BSc Adult Nursing Programme. As a member of the pre-registration nursing team, I have additional responsibilities as a personal academic tutor, an academic assessor and deliver teaching sessions across different modules.

Teaching responsibilities

I lead the Practice Assessment Part 2 module in stage 2 for the BSc Adult Nursing programme, so the majority of my teaching responsibilities lay within the second year of the programme. I also support other members of the team in teaching, marking, and as an academic supervisor for stage 2 modules.

Research interests

My research interests include developments in simulation and clinical skills teaching including virtual reality, and high fidelity simulation in relation to kinesthetic learning styles. I also have a professional interest in progressive neurological disorders and quality of life factors, as well as neuroregeneration following traumatic brain injury.

Qualifications

Experience in industry

My professional background is primarily in neurosciences and critical care nursing, though I have a varied clinical background including primary care nursing and first response in forensic services. Within these roles, I worked as a link for epilepsy care and a neuro-data specialist nurse.

I was involved in the mentorship of newly qualified nursing staff, as well as student nurses on placements. Including elements of invasive line education for established staff nurses within a critical care setting. I also formed part of the first wave Nightingale staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.
