About

I am a Lecturer in Forensic Science at the University of Derby. I hold a Ph.D. in Forensic Anthropology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur, India. With an avid interest in teaching and research, I strive to deliver sessions which are both, engaging and insightful.

My primary research interest is in virtual anthropology, in amalgamation with computational statistics to enable more accurate, unbiased, and sustainable human identification.

Teaching responsibilities

Presently, I am the module leader for 'Crime Scene to Court' which deals with crime scene investigation, laboratory examination of evidence, writing witness statement reports, and presenting findings in a mock courtroom. In addition to this, I am also involved in teaching and guiding with other modules of Forensic Anthropology, Methods of Lab examination, Professional Practice, and Miscarriage of Justice for Forensic Science.

Professional interests

I aim to deliver sessions which not only help students develop real-world skills but also employment targeted technical and soft skills. My goal is to deliver effective lectures/practicals by incorporating contemporary subjects, research, and pedagogic approaches into my teaching practice. I am also currently on route to achieving a Fellow status (FHEA), with the aim of delivering effective teaching/supporting learning.

Research interests

My primary research interest is centred around the use of virtual anthropology (through the use of computed tomographic scans) for both surface and sub-surface examination of bones for human identification. A secondary area of interest is the use of computational statistics to derive more accurate and unbiased human identification models within the context of Forensic Anthropology.
