About

I am a Professor of Organisational Behavior and Human Resource Management, a member of the University Professorial Council and Internal Review Panel of ESRC grants at the University of Derby, UK. I received my PhD at Nagoya University, Japan. Prior to joining the University of Derby in 2020, I was a Tenured Professor (currently I am an adjunct professor) in the College of Business at City University of Hong Kong. I have supervised twenty PhD and DBA candidates to completion on time. My research expertise and interests focus on organisational behaviour and human resource issues, including leadership, proactive behaviour, emotional labour, person-job/organisation fit, and cross-cultural human resource development.

Being an active researcher, as a Principal Investigator, I received six General Research Funds (GRF) from Hong Kong Research Grant Council, and one Contract Research grant with the net support of GBP510,000; and as a Co-Investigator, I received four GRF and one SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Research Council of Canada) of GBP297,089.

I have demonstrated a strong record of high-quality and impactful publications associated with grants, such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, etc. I have received six Best Paper Awards and two Best Paper Award Finalist at international conferences.

I also serve as Senior Editor for Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Editorial Advisor for Asian Journal of Management Case, and Editorial Board member for International Journal of Human Resource Management and Journal of Business Research.
