At the University of Derby, Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

Our Safeguarding Policy covers our response to safeguarding here at the University of Derby, including who is involved in our safeguarding response, how we deal with disclosures, how to spot the signs of abuse and how we safeguard students who are learning online with us.

Support to Study, is the University of Derby's coordinated, inclusive and supportive response when a students health, wellbeing or behaviour is impacting on their ability to engage with the requirements, regulations and responsibilities of university life as a whole.

The University has a legal duty of care for the health and safety of anyone using our premises. The Children on Campus policy has been developed to ensure reasonable and proportionate decisions are made when children access university premises. This policy should be read in conjunction with the University of Derby Safeguarding policy as above.

The University of Derby, operates a policy of ‘No Tolerance’ towards the use of illegal drugs on all premises.

The University of Derby is committed to supporting all students who are or become pregnant; terminate a pregnancy; experience miscarriage, still birth or neo-natal death; or welcome new children to their families, to have an excellent student experience and outcomes.

The University of Derby recognises and supports the right of an individual to change their gender expression; and that there may be differences between a person’s biological sex and their gender identity, expression, or presentation.
