Student Life

Your first point of contact with the Student Services team for info, advice, guidance and much more.

Who We Are

When you get in touch with Student Services, you’re likely to speak to a Student Life Adviser first of all.  We’re here to provide information, advice and guidance about the range of support available to you at the University of Derby. We can provide one-to-one support, book you in for an appointment with the team, or signpost you to other services who can help you, either externally or within the University.

Our Services

Open the drop-downs below to find out more about the services we provide and how we can help you.

It can be difficult knowing what support you can access at uni, or even who you need to speak to about it. The Student Life team is here to point you in the right direction if you need support with a disability, want to talk about your mental health, if you’re unsure about your money and finances, and much more. We’re always happy to have a chat and give you the information you need – just get in touch on our contact details here.

Our Student Life workshops are designed to help you to get the most out of your time at university. The workshops are a great opportunity to meet other students whilst learning new skills and techniques to support you on your journey through university life. There are a range of workshops to choose from. Find out about all our workshops and book your place.

If you want to find out about budgeting, or need support if you’re struggling with your money, you can speak to one of our Student Money Advisors. For more information on the support available, please see our Finance and Budgeting page

Take control of your wellness by booking a 20-minute Wellness MOT appointment with one of our Student Life Advisers. The appointment will include some self-assessment which will identify some areas you may wish to work on. With the help of the adviser, you will create a personalised action plan and be signposted to useful resources and relevant services. Check back soon to book an appointment.

Within the Student Life team, you can speak to a Sexual Violence and Misconduct Liaison Officer (SVLO), who can offer support to students who have been directly or indirectly affected by recent or historical incidents of sexual misconduct. If you would like to speak to an SVLO, please see our Sexual Misconduct Support page.
