courses

Our Business Management courses are innovative and dynamic. You’ll take the theories off the page and devise solutions to real business problems. In a city with a pioneering past and a future full of potential, you’ll become immersed in the wider business community and inspired by our flourishing employer networks – from global corporates to SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises).

Getting you ready for business

Our Business Management degree is for people who want to do business as well as learn about it. From the get-go, you'll be thinking about how to apply what you're learning, through topical case studies, business simulations, real consultancy projects and work placements.

You’ll spend the first year covering all aspects of business management to find out where your passions and talents lie. Then from year two, you can continue on a general Business Management pathway with plenty of optional modules, or choose a more specialist pathway that combines Business Management with: Entrepreneurship, Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, or Supply Chain and Logistics.

Small Business Charter

Derby Business School has become the latest business school to be awarded the Small Business Charter. This national accolade is in recognition of the business school’s high standard of support for small businesses and the local economy, as well as the work it does in developing entrepreneurial skills in students. The Small Business Charter (SBC) award is a national Kitemark awarded by the Chartered Association of Business Schools to recognise business schools which demonstrate excellence in supporting student enterprise, small businesses and the local economy.

Professionally accredited

Whichever pathway you choose, you won't be closing any doors; you will still gain a solid grounding in all of the key business disciplines. All pathways are also accredited by the Chartered Management Institute, which means you gain an extra professional qualification on top of your degree as well as professional mentoring and access to CMI member benefits. Most of the specialist pathways are also approved by other professional bodies — the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). These accreditations give you extra credibility and exemptions from future professional exams.
