This part-time course is designed for professionals working in the field of Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) and has been developed with employers. It will enhance your ability to bring positive outcomes to the children and young people you work with. A range of relevant modules allow you to specialise in areas appropriate to your context. You will study this course at one of our partner colleges.

As you progress through the course you’ll develop as a confident, knowledgeable and effective practitioner when working with children and young people with SEND and their families within your context. It places emphasis on the knowledge, skills and competencies you’ll need to work effectively and inclusively with this group of children and young people in ways that will bring them positive outcomes.

Teaching hours

Like most universities, we operate extended teaching hours at the University of Derby, so contact time with your lecturers and tutors could be anytime between 9am and 9pm. Your timetable will usually be available on the website 24 hours after enrolment on to your course.
