Before you arrive: a handy checklist

Before you arrive

Make sure your journey to university is as smooth as possible by following our simple checklist for before you arrive:

  1. Create your University of Derby account. You will receive instructions for how to do this via email.

  2. Complete your online enrolment. We’ve got a guide for how your enrolment and induction process works. Check our FAQs or submit an enquiry if you need any help. Failure to complete the online enrolment process can have implications on your funding and visa status if you’re an international student, so this is important.

  3. Familiarise yourself with UDo – the student portal. Access your timetable, Unimail and induction programmes (available 48 hours after you’ve created your university account).

  4. You’ll receive an email inviting you to complete your online University Induction

  5. Register at a local doctor’s surgery if you’ve moved away from home. We have an on-site GP at Kedleston Road called Park Medical Practice on the ground floor of T Block.

  6. Make sure your vaccinations are up to date. Including for MenACWY (meningitis) and measles.

  7. Follow us on social media. Follow @derbyunistudent on X, Facebook and Instagram for a sneak peek into student life on campus.

Download our recommended apps:

  1. TalkCampus: our anonymous 24/7 mental health support app.

  2. SafeZone: access to urgent help or assistance on campus.

  3. DerbyGo: plan your journeys, check travel costs and see live departure information for nationwide public transport.

  4. UoD Active: an easy way to book on to all our sport activities, events, and competitions.
