Develop@Derby

Develop@Derby is a hub where you can access a wide range of guides and LinkedIn Learning courses that are designed to help you boost your personal, academic and employability skills. At Derby, we don’t just prepare you for a successful career, we support you in building the foundations for an exciting future.

Careers and Employment Service

The Careers and Employment Service provide support from day one of your studies, to up to three years after you graduate. You’ll have fantastic opportunities to gain part-time work, undertake placements, improve your CV and learn how to ace an interview with the help of our experts.

Our careers website is a great place to start and is where you’ll find lots of guidance and useful resources. You can pop along to the Careers and Employment Hub at Kedleston Road or Markeaton Street, or book an appointment to chat to one of our team.

Financial support

Tuition fees and living costs

Once you’re here you have two main costs to consider – tuition fees and living costs.

Tuition fees pay for your teaching, mandatory study trips and access to core textbooks through our library and vary depending on whether you are undergraduate or postgraduate, studying part time or full time, and whether you are a UK, EU or international student.

Living costs are on average £190 - £230 per week and include accommodation, food and socialising.

The cost of living will understandably be on your mind, but we have lots of help available:

We have experienced Student Money Advisers who are on hand to offer useful budgeting tips to help you make your money go further. If you’re feeling anxious about your finances and would like some friendly, expert advice, please don’t hesitate to contact a member of the team at studentservices@derby.ac.uk.

Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA)

Financial support is available to those with a long-term health condition or other disability, including a Specific Learning Difference such as Dyslexia. The type of support and how much you’ll receive depends on your individual needs, not your household income.

We encourage you to apply before the academic year starts so we can get everything in place for your arrival. More information can be found on the government website.
