Dr Andy Hooton is the Head of Subject for Sport, Outdoor and Exercise Science. Andy leads an exciting industry-led provision focused on developing the next generation of Sport and Exercise Scientists/Practitioners.

The design of his teaching is underpinned by his S&C experience working in industry, and his work with the UK Strength and Conditioning Association. He believes in translating theory to practice in an accessible way to allow students to develop skills to ready them for the workplace.

Jeanette Lewis is an enthusiastic sports therapy practitioner and a lecturer in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation here at the University of Derby. Jeanette has been a practising sports therapist since 2008 and has worked within larger private injury clinics as well as an independent practitioner.

Associate Professor in Cellular and Molecular Biology

Elizabeth is an Associate Professor. She leads the Metabolic Disorders and Cancer Research Centre, teaches across our Undergraduate and Postgraduate Biosciences programmes, and supervises students in their project work. Her research interests are in host-pathogen interactions and immunity, and she leads projects to understand the role of Human Papillomavirus in Head and Neck Cancers.

Caroline Mills is the Senior Forensic Technician in the College of Science and Engineering, providing technical and laboratory support for students, lecturers and researchers.

Lecturer in Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation

Reema Mistry is a lecturer in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation and module leader on Sports Specific Rehabilitation. She also provides teaching, learning and assessing activities across the programme. Reema has over five years of experience working as an active sports therapist in football and ice hockey. She has been a member of the Society of Sports Therapists since 2017.
